Srinagar, Sep 20 (KNO): The work on the vital Lowang-Baugh road in Bani Tehsil of Kathua district is expected to resume soon as the government is going to construct this road under the National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD). Last week, the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that the Lowang-Baugh road has been incomplete for the last 26 years due to which the locals are suffering. Days after the news was published, a team of the Public Works Department headed by a senior officer visited the area and took stock of the current status of the road. On the occasion, locals were assured that work on the road is expected as soon as locals will complete minor paperwork. An official who was part of the team told KNO that the locals were told to get recommendation letters from BDC and DDC following which a fresh DPR would be prepared. He said that work on the road was started in 1997 under a district plan; however, now it will be constructed under the NABARD. Under the NABARD, there will be no compensation to anyone whose land will go under the road. Meanwhile, the locals thanked KNO for highlighting the issue following which the officials visited the area. They hoped that work on the road would be started soon—(KNO)
